ATLANTA and NEW YORK - A pair of recent studies point out positive trends in the self-service technology industry, according to kiosk manufacturer NCR Corp. (NYSE:NCR).
In June, market analyst IDC released a report, "Changing Lanes: Self-Checkout Systems Rev Up the Adoption Curve," that predicts accelerated growth in the self-service checkout sector in the near future.
The survey focused on four companies involved in self-service technology, including NCR. NCR officials said the report showcased NCR’s leadership role in the sector. The company noted that Christopher Boone, the IDC senior research analyst who prepared the report, mentioned NCR’s track record and commitment to customer service.
Additionally, a poll prepared by Ipsos-Reid on behalf of NCR stated that 64 percent of Canadians are interested in shopping in stores that feature self-service technology. In the 18-to-34 age bracket, 77 percent of those surveyed showed an interest in self-service technology, while the numbers slip to 68 percent for those aged 35 to 54 and 45 percent for the 55 and older bracket.
